Entire Project find shouldn't search until we press enter or change context

If I hit find and start searching, the search checks through the entire project for instances of the first letter, returns an array, then the first plus second letter, returns an array… And the whole thing locks up for a bit because my project is huge.

I think the search loop could also use some basic optimization.
