Sudowrite includes built-in spelling and grammar checking designed specifically for fiction writers. It works directly in the editor, recognizes your Story Bible entries be default, and is available on every Sudowrite plan at no extra cost.

How Spelling and Grammar Checking Works
As you write, Sudowrite automatically checks your text for spelling and grammar issues in real time. Misspelled words are underlined in red, and grammar issues are underlined in blue.
Click any underlined word or phrase to see a suggested correction, then approve it with one click or ignore it and move on.
To disable spelling and grammar checking, toggle off the purple ABC icon at the top of the editor.
Story Bible Integration
Standard spell checkers flag every invented name and fictional place as a mistake. Sudowrite's spelling and grammar check is different:
Character and Worldbuilding names from your Story Bible are automatically recognized. That means names, locations, and terminology you've already defined in Story Bible won't show up as spelling errors (assuming you spelled them correctly anyway).
Add other words to your dictionary with one click. When a flagged word is intentional, click it and choose to add it to your custom dictionary. (We had to do this with Sudowrite, for example.)
Ignore grammar rules that don't fit your style. If a grammar suggestion conflicts with your voice or house style, you can dismiss the rule so it won't flag that pattern again.

Settings
Your custom dictionary and ignored grammar rules are saved in a new account-level Spelling & Grammar Settings menu. From here, you can also:
Select your Language and Region preferences—so Sudowrite knows whether you spell it "colour" or "color."
Review your custom dictionary and remove entries using the X beside them.
Manage ignored grammar rules the same way.
Note that this menu will look slightly different from project to project, since it also displays the Character and Worldbuilding entries specific to the particular project you're working in.
You can find this menu under More Settings via the Settings gear icon in the upper right of Sudowrite.
Tips
Fill in your Story Bible's Character and Worldbuilding sections before you start writing—this gives the spell checker a head start on recognizing your fictional terms. (Alternatively, adding a reoccurring Character or Worldbuilding element to your Story Bible will add it to the dictionary and resolve the underlines.)
If you're seeing too many false positives for a particular grammar pattern, ignore the rule once and it won't bother you again.
Spelling and grammar checking is on by default. If you prefer a distraction-free writing experience, toggle it off with the ABC icon and just turn it back on for a pass when you're ready to revise.
We support a wide range of languages, but if the language you primarily write in is unsupported you may want to work with this feature turned off.
