The beta feature of “your voice” where you can train your own model and write in your voice just over-complicates giving the document FOUR separate places on how to influence the document,
1. if you are using Muse you can give it an example of the style of writing you are going for
The style section of the story bible where you can select styles or add your own (differs from “your voice”??)
The Tense/character selection in the drafts and prose generation
writing settings in the top left corner dropdown menu.
I find that the AI gets confused and its prose falls away from stylization choices that it should more correctly adhere to, especially in terms of third person limited, it shifts to giving a lot of descriptions but no real depth or perspective from the characters point of view even if you tell it to write from that character’s point of view. And will deliberately do things that are antithetical to the outcome, especially when you tell it what you DON’T want. That being said, even feeding it only what you DO want still leaves room for many many errors and drawing on and forcing things from the story bible out of place and forcing lore for the sake of lore if you are someone with a “weaker” story bible, it makes the work seem low quality even if the story bible cards you have are VERY fleshed out.
It is also my opinion that the “your voice” feature should be a standard, when you feed it the type of script that you write in the AI should just be able to write in that style rather than wasting tokens in RE writing what it has already written, it seems redundant if it is just used as a corrective tool rather than a seamless co-creator of a work of fiction rendering it kind of a pointless feature, if someone wanted to re-write it in their own voice they could just write it themselves which defeats the purpose of the feature.
CHARACTER POV & TENSE MUST BE HARDWIRED into the standard and guided generation buttons and not just in generating initial prose from the draft feature forcing it to infer from the text and often times messing things up when having to “insert” or generate new text. They behave almost as though they are completely different AI’s and treat the prose and story differently making it a difficult horse to control.
