I love your product, however, the ticking clock on subscription credits creates an artificial, working-for-someone-else vibe. Here is why. If I use the credits too frugally and cautiously, then I feel broke. If I see how many I have left, then I feel I should use them even when my writing is better or more appropriate, encouraging laziness and filler material.
Just like retail. You have eight hours, even if you finish all your work (or don’t in the case of creative writing), you have to either: create the illusion of busy work (disingenuous or FOMO credit usage), or fear a penalty, such as boss-chosen busy work that means nothing (losing credits, aka time and money).
Not a perfect comparison, but I think you get the gist. Expiring credits makes me feel like Sudowrite is in charge, is my boss. Writing doesn’t work like that, a linear, measured output. And, when your mother is hit by a car, and has to be hospitalized for a broken hip and arm, and you continue to write diligently, yet your credits vanish, it’s kinda f*$%*&% depressing. Just saying.
