Project-Level Pen Name Toggle for Collaboration

Many authors write and collaborate under pen names. Right now, when sharing chapters for collaboration, Sudowrite automatically uses the account’s real/legal name. This can be a problem for authors who:

  • Publish under a pen name and want collaborators to see that identity.

  • Manage multiple writing personas (e.g. genre fiction vs. professional nonfiction).

  • Need to keep their legal name private for safety or brand reasons.

Suggestion: Add a project-level toggle where the author can select whether collaboration is shared under their real name (default) or a chosen pen name. Ideally, this could be set when creating the project and easily switched later, similar to choosing a display name. This would also allow authors with multiple pen names to use Sudowrite for all of them without confusion, since each project could display the correct identity.

Benefits:

  • Protects author privacy.

  • Matches how writers actually work across different projects.

  • Keeps collaboration immersive (e.g., collaborators on a novel see the author’s pen name, not their unrelated legal identity).

This would make Sudowrite much more author-friendly for the large number of us who publish under pseudonyms.
