Include Formatting in generated text

So if you generate text using the Draft feature, Sudowrite actually inserts markup characters like ** around words. However, the formatting is not applied to the actual generated text. If you use the characters yourself, it does. Is there a way to get the text to actually format while being generated, or a way to scan the document and apply the formatting characters?
