Character profile

Is there a way to make the character in the character profille move up in the order of appearance. When you are writing a series it becomes a pain to move old characters to the bottom of the list and new characters to the top. or fix it to where if you delete a character from one book that ir doesn’t delete them from all the books in the series. I have characters that may be in one book and then not be seen again until later books. at this point my character profile list is getting longer and longer. It would be one thing if it was quick to move the characters around fast but it scrolls so slow when you try to move them that it takes a lot of time to do it.
