Choices about how to list (and maybe group?) items on the Home Page

I would DEARLY LOVE some choices about how to list (and maybe group? Preojects? FOLDERS?) items on the Home Page. Ordering by 'last opened' is my absolutely least desired option. Alphabetical would be better.
