As one of our most-upvoted requests, we should update you all here: Last year we launched Story Bible, a place to document your genre, style, characters, synopsis and more. Story Bible is referenced by both the Chapter Generator and the Write button. It's made a huge difference for folks, effectively making Sudowrite smarter as you fill it in. But we also recognize there's still work to do—allowing folks to add far more context for their characters, settings, a timeline and more. We're currently working on the next iteration of Story Bible, and the first phase of that is in beta. Curious about joining our betas? I think something like this would be incredibly helpful for writers. A story bible with characters, setting information, and any world-building elements. This could be a second dataset for SW to consider when creating suggestions. This could be helpful in so many ways, but specifically 1) more accurate suggestions that would require less revision for authors to massage the text into fitting with the world and 2) reducing inaccurate suggestions would help those that are on limited text generation plans saving time/money for cycles.

Definitely helpful to give the AI some additional context about the plot, current characters, and such so the writing can be more relevant.

Definitely. I'd also say the same thing for "Tone" too. I'd really like a "comedy" option. Sometimes your characters are ridiculous people doing dumb things.

Remember Characters
Something I run into often is Sudowrite will assign attributes or proffessions to characters that contradict/don't align with what was previously stated in the story. I honestly thought the "characters" button (under more) was to help assign certain attributes/descriptions to certain names for Sudowrite to remember!

Just wanted to say that this is a great suggestion and probably my most wanted feature. Since many of the words you buy are discarded, this would help a lot to make sure that as many as possible of the AI responses are logical and usable.
Ideally the information you have written about a character would only kick in/get sent to the AI when you mention the characters (similar to NovelAI's lorebook) so that context isn't wasted on irrelevant information.
Keep up the good work :)

Wanted to add my 2 cents and say that although the "Key details" - in the write settings - do seems to help, it is not enough. This feature should be expanded so we can provide 'unlimited' context.

Just wanted to add that I'd love to be able to include nicknames with regard to the tracking of characters and character attributes, if Sudowrite were to actually maintain a story bible for us (and a story bible maintained by Sudowrite would be AMAZING!!!)

Obviously this idea is natural. It's annoying to keep reiterating personality traits and garments characters are wearing just to get the AI on the right track. Or that the AI forgot the setting of the story was in a cave instead of a park or something.

I'm considering NovelAI over Sudowrite just because it has this feature (Lorebook), even though NovelAI's interface is heavily coder oriented and unwieldly for the common user. I'd love to be able to create a story bible within the context of a project and get more accurate suggestions.

Absolutely. Lore book should be top priority. Can't think of anything more helpful.

this needs to happen or its essentially useless for serious writers or authors trying to write more than a short story or a summarized story. I can't even get a decent outline, because i can't give it enough pertinent information. i don't want it to write the story for me. I want to be able to explain my world, plot setting and characters and then guide it to help me arrange everything in a proper, coherent order, but if it can't remember everything pertinent to the story, then it's of no use to me, which is upsetting, since i've already upgraded to a paid subscription in order to try to have a whack at this and test out what it can do.

Yes, this would greatly help me from copying and pasting multiple times. I find myself having to keep my characters and settings in ChatGPT for reference when writing my story in Scrivener, then transferring parts of the story (within the 300-word limit) into SW for rewriting. I definitely love the idea of setting the narrative tone for the whole manuscript.

In the interim, I'd suggest expanding the word capacity for Key Details as well as making the Key Details unique to each section or chapter of the short story or novel.

@ryan_mather1321 this is kind of convoluted, but I would like the ai to be able to consider these facts when writing. im not expecting you to read through it, just to look at the formatting.
The plot revolves around two main characters, Daito and Shoto. The story takes place in a fantasy setting, but unlike most fantasy novels which take place in a western/European setting, this one takes place in a Japanese setting. Note that this doesn’t mean that the setting is in Japan, but rather the character names, food, and weapons will be more Japanese than European.
The following is a summary of the plot.
Daito grows up with a girl named Akira. They eventually fall in love. Shoto grows up in a poor yet militaristically powerful city. One day, as he is walking through the market, his parents are murdered. In this moment, he discovers that he was chosen to wield the black spine, and uses that to kill the robber. Shoto begins to cry next to his parents' corpses, and as he does this he is approached by the god of cards, who takes him in as an adoptive father.
Daito and Shoto grow up as a rivalry and tension begins to develop between their two cities. Daito becomes a powerful military leader, and marries Akira. Shoto trains with card magic and the black spine under the supervision of the God of cards. Eventually, a war breaks out between the two cities, in which Akira is killed by Shoto. Daito becomes enraged, and vows to kill Shoto and avenge Akira. After the war, Shoto begins the tournament and wins against the Holder of the Fisherman’s blade. During this time, Daito becomes powerful and is able to hunt down and kill the god of cards, taking his power. Once Shoto hears of this, he vows revenge against Daito, which is what Daito planned. Shoto continues the tournament, and kills the wielders of the flame dagger and lightning dagger. Daito challenges the infinite dragon, and in desperation, learns how to concentrate enough paradoxical magic on his sword to create the paradoxical blade. The creation of this blade enters Daito into the tournament, and he is able to kill the infinite dragon with it, absorbing its power and sealing it in his left hand. Shoto kills all of the remaining swordsman, except for Daito. In order to gain enough power to kill each other, both characters attain a powerful ability. Shoto acquires the final breath, and Daito acquires the eye of God. The two rivals meet for the final battle, in which Shoto is killed by Daito, and Daito wins. Daito becomes the swordsman, and is the protector of the universe. Daito meets a small dragon in a sandy area. The dragon reveals himself to be the devil of the dust, and warns Daito of impending danger in the form of Phasomonth. Phasomonth is a being that consumes reality, and is the manifest of black holes.
Daito falls in love with Akira. Shotos parents are killed and he is adopted by the god of cards
Daito and Shoto both become stronger; Shoto is taught card magic and becomes better at using the black spine, while Daito learns to better use red magic. Daito marries Akira.
A war between the cities breaks out. Shoto kills Akira, and Daito vows revenge.
The tournament begins, and Shoto acquires the Fisherman’s Blade. Daito becomes stronger at wielding red magic, and uses his newfound power to kill the god of cards, making Shoto want revenge on Daito.
Shoto completes more brackets of the tournament, acquiring both daggers. Daito creates the Paradoxical Blade and kills the infinite dragon in order to gain power.
Shoto now wields every sword except for the Paradoxical Blade. Shoto meets the council of twisted dark and acquires the final breath. Daito meets with God and Acquires the eye of God.
Daito and Shoto meet for a final battle, in which Daito wins and kills shoto, becoming the swordsman.
Daito and Shoto unknowingly work together to kill Phasomonth
Daito kills the wielder of the cleaver, while Shoto receives forgiveness from Akira.
Daito fights the god of hands and flowers, using the red seal to defeat it, sacrificing himself in the process. When he dies, he meets Shoto and Akira in the afterlife and forgives Shoto.
Magic types.
Red magic: multiple forms that ascend in power and difficulty to use. It is easily combined with neutral types of magic to amplify its effects, such as its combination with conceptual magic to form the weightless blade of infinity
Elemental magic: magic that is used to control natural elements such as water, fire, earth, lightning, wind, etc. the swords are best at exemplifying these.
Light magic: The two types are holy magic and radiant magic. Holy magic has a godly presence and golden aura. It is usually difficult to acquire and manifest. Radiant magic is a bright golden-white truth seeking magic.
Dark magic: the two types are demonic magic and shadow magic. Demonic magic is a direct opposite to holy magic, while shadow magic is a direct opposite to radiant magic
Conceptual magic: it has two main types, those being paradoxical magic and conceptual integration. Paradoxical magic combines opposing concepts to create tears in reality and paradoxes. Conceptual integration integrates concepts into other forms of magic.
Gyro magic: it is used mainly as a traversal method, but can also be used in limited ways during combat. Gyro magic is granted to beings that have surpassed a certain power threshold.
Card magic. This type of magic can only be taught and learned, not gained. It is based on playing cards and can manipulate likelihood among other things.

I agree. Setting up a Bible with character traits and background lore would make this much more usable.
I would also appreciate the addition of "narrative landmarks" into the features. That is, pseudo-waypoints or milestones to set a direction that you want the narrative to get to. For example, if someone was writing Star Wars, they maybe have in mind something like this:
Kid seeks out an old mentor.
He reaches a point of no return and must accept the call to action.
He goes out into space to answer the call.
He should train with the mentor in the meantime.
He joins the Rebellion as a starfighter pilot.
He destroys the evil warmachine to become a hero.
In the current state of sudowrite, you're more likely to get the AI telling you in its prompt about the kid falling in love and then going for a joyride, or maybe opening up a bakery... which is not the narrative direction you had in mind.

I have created a program with Python and MySQL, running on a Linux server. What it does is that you load information to the database, story outline, and character descriptions, including name, age, look, personality, background story, locations, chapter outlines, etc. Then the generator I made would always look at the data in the database when generating the text. It's a simple and not-at-all-user-friendly concept, but I enjoyed the project. If SudoWrite would include something like that, I'd love it and throw my program out, lol
