Visual Character & Worldbuilding Cards

Many writers are highly visual, and we thrive when our work is not only functional but aesthetically engaging. Sudowrite’s tools have grown impressively comprehensive over the years, but the current layout for characters and worldbuilding feels monotonous. When you’re scrolling through dozens of traits across countless characters or worldbuilding cards, everything starts to blur together.

A more visual interface, similar to Campfire’s character UI, would make a huge difference. Being able to see character cards with images, grouped stats (fantasy and paranormal or even alibis and clues associated with that character in a mystery), and side-by-side traits would not only be more intuitive, but would also increase clarity and enjoyment during use. Campfire’s layout also allows for a group of characters on one card to easily see who belongs to what crew, family, or faction. The ease with which I can even have my protagonist and antagonist on a single card for a side-by-side is amazing to make sure they contrast appropriately.

I think this feature would make the platform feel less like a database and more like a creative, living archive of our fictional worlds. Bonus: Readers love Pinterest boards of our characters and world. This feels like something that could move between both places. The layout also lends itself to shorter card lengths, allowing for faster scrolling, and did you notice how you can link to other cards that are relevant? (Okay, can y’all just hire the Campfire person that created this please?)
