Appendix

Projects have a double appendix setup. The first creates a World Building Appendix, while the second creates a Published Appendix, which appears within the actual draft as the final section of the document.

The World Building Appendix will sit at the base of the world building section. It would have a triple hierarch consisting of;

Folders — to distinguish between different types of words - especially useful for non-fiction or for when writing a fantasy world with a ‘rune’ section or for ‘scientific jargon section’ in a science fiction field.

Subjects — for each letter as a sub-heading with the capability to change the letters to other letters if required (eg Cyrillic) or to add new custom letters.

Fields — These are the actual fields you create for a particular topic. The topic name is the field title and the description is written into the field.

You should be able to drag and drop the fields in different subjects as needed.

Thoughts on implementation on roadmap;

My guess would be that this already aligns with existing roadmap plans to introduce hierarchies into the world building section, as once hierarchies exist, they can be used to create this exact model. However, what would make the Appendix model I am suggesting different is the addition of a ‘Publish’ check box in each field after the title.

How would this function? By selecting the check box in a field it identifies it as an item that the Author wants visible to the reader, and this immediately duplicates it in the Published Appendix at the end of the document. Without this check it would remain only visible to the Author in the World Building section.

Furthermore, in series mode, a separate checkbox would exist for each title in the series, allowing for information revealed to a reader in a set book, eg Book 2, could be then published in the appendix of book 3 onward.
