Improvement
Fix
We've added OpenAI's GPT-5 suite to Sudowrite. You'll now find three new models available in the Write button: GPT-5, GPT-5 Mini, and GPT-5 Nano.
The standout is the highly creative GPT-5, which generates prose with genuinely clever dialogue and novel ideas. Nano is remarkably inexpensive—dirt cheap to use, really. And Mini splits the difference with solid, logical constructions that do a great job of maintaining your story's thread.
All three models are currently available in the Experimental section of your Write Settings, and we'll be rolling GPT-5 out to Draft soon as well.
We’ve also been hard at working with lots of little fixes and improvements!
Improved POV & Tense Visibility - Now that you have a way to set a narrative perspective and tense for your story, we think it’s important that you know when the AI is referencing it. We’ve added “chiclets” for both POV and Tense that appear in the Looked at section above cards in your History. This will make troubleshooting unexpected results a little easier.
Auto Toggle to History - It was easy to miss that a Write card was being created if you clicked Write while in Chat. AI features (like Write, Rewrite, Describe, etc.) now automatically toggle your right bar from Chat to History in order to surface newly-created cards.
Chat Highlight Focus - We fixed some issues related to Chat’s ability to focus on a highlighted passage. Discussing selected passages works much more reliably now.
Chat Toggle Error - Toggling from Chat to History (or vice versa) sometimes resulted in an error message on existing cards in your History section. We fixed that issue.
Pasting Into Chat - We fixed an issue where pasting into the chat field after having typed a message resulted in the paste replacing the existing text.
Write Settings Persistence - We fixed an issue where the Write Settings would collapse after selecting from one of the drop menus inside of it.
Helper Text Cleanup - We added some padding to the helper text inside of your Story Bible boxes to prevent messy overlap.
Dark Theme Markdown Fix - Certain colors of text resulting from markdown-formatted cards were illegible in dark themes, but we’ve fixed that issue.
Draft Status Updates - The Draft tool would say “Checking Story Bible” even if your Story Bible was turned off when first clicking to generate prose. We fixed that issue.
Feedback Display Name - We changed the default behavior of our changelog and feedback sites so that authors without display names set in Sudowrite have their profile anonymized.
Export as 1 Doc Fix - Since adding the ability to Export as 1 Doc, projects with a single document were seeing a superfluous export option. We fixed that issue.
